Meet Camp Blue Director – Alice Hunter
I’m Alice, I am the Camp Blue Director. I worked my first camp as a counsellor in 2015 and came on board full-time with our swim school (Bell Leisure) in April 2016. For the past few years, I have been working across all the programs at Bell Leisure: Big Blue Swimming, Camp Blue Day Camp, Teen Camp, and Overnight Camp, which has allowed me to create great relationships with families and staff alike.
My day-to-day role, alongside company director Sam, generally entails working across all programs in terms of recruiting and hiring, programming, ordering and pulling it all together at crunch time. During program times, you’ll regularly find me dancing around, performing on stage, or attempting a halfway Basketball shot during camp – (shy and retiring are two things I’m yet to be described as in my life… I have no idea why).
Camp is a great place for kids, staff, families to come together and make genuine connections that often last a lifetime. I genuinely enjoy chatting to families and getting to know parents and campers on a much more personal and enjoyable level than any regular recreational or educational programs. For me, the most unique thing about our program is the relationships that are created and developed within the Camp Blue Community. It’s really just a very big (noisy) family!
A fun Q & A with Alice Hunter, Camp Blue Director
Q. What do you miss most about being a kid?
👉🏾A. I still consider myself a massive kid, but the thing I think I miss the most is compulsory family Sunday dinners with roast parsnips and Mum’s famous steamed treacle sponge.
Q. What’s the most interesting thing you’ve read or seen this week?
👉🏾 A. Recently watched a video clip about Blue Whales – did you know that if you were to pull out all the blood vessels of a blue whale and line them up, it would reach Pluto and back again more than 2.5 times?!?! Mental. https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=328267931063844
Q. What gets too much attention in the news?
👉🏾 A. Hard to stay PC on that one, so I would like to say that there is certainly not enough attention on the simple successes of everyday people and efforts to save the planet.
Q. Do you have any ridiculous goals in life?
👉🏾 A. Nothing too ridiculous, but I would like to live, work and travel to all continents.
Q5. Using one word, how would you describe your family?
👉🏾 A. Irreplaceable.
