Hi, I’m Sam and my job is to support all of the fabulous Camp Blue people that deliver the programs to our campers. Oh, and of course, I pay the bills and this keeps everyone happy.
For six years, I managed summer camps for Camp USA in the USA. Summer camps in the USA are like no other school holiday experience in the world. Camps are part of the American culture and something that every child looks forward to every summer holidays. It was at Camp USA that I learnt the value of creating programs and experiences that stimulate the imagination and provide unique opportunities for children’s growth.
When my husband Jon and I returned to Australia, we had the ultimate dream to create an American-style summer camp here in Australia. Camp Blue is the reality of this dream and we’ve been providing exceptional programs for children (K-9) in Australia since 2010. Our camps are held every school holiday in Manly NSW, North Sydney and Melbourne VIC.
A fun Q& A with Sam Bell, one of the Camp Blue Founders
Q. What did you think was cool when you were young but isn’t so cool now?
A. Definitely permed hair, haha! Yes,, I did have permed hair in high school. Eeeek!
Q. If you could ask advice from any historical figure, who would it be? What would you ask them?
A. I would ask Marco Polo if he ever played Marco…Polo!
Q. If you had a theme song, what would it be?
A. Oh, that would have to be, “You Only Get What You Give” by the New Radicals. It’s a 90s classic hit!
Q. When you have 30 minutes of free-time, how do you pass the time?
A. What’s free time? haha! Well, if I do find any free time then you can definitely find me at the beach.
Q. What’s the most spontaneous thing you’ve ever done?
A. I would say getting married! I am very happy to report that it’s all good 18 years later. haha!
